1About Cashly

Cashly is a personal-finance app for tracking spending, keeping budgets, and splitting expenses, available on iOS and Android with a website at cashlyapp.io. Cashly is operated by Ruthran Baskar, an individual based in India (“we”, “us”).

2Acceptance of these Terms

By creating a Cashly account or using the app, you agree to these Terms. If you don’t agree, please don’t use Cashly. Our Privacy Policy explains how we handle your information; it’s worth reading alongside these Terms.

3Eligibility

You must be at least 18 years old to use Cashly, and legally able to enter into this agreement.

4Your Cashly account

You sign in with your Apple or Google account. You’re responsible for keeping your device and your sign-in provider account secure; Cashly can’t tell the difference between you and someone using your unlocked phone. One account per person; your account is for you, not for resale or shared operation.

5What Cashly does

Cashly lets you record transactions, organise them into categories and wallets, set budgets and goals, attach receipts, and split expenses with friends and groups, including guests who don’t have Cashly accounts. Cashly is currently provided without paid subscriptions or in-app purchases.

6Your data, your entries

What you put into Cashly is yours. We claim no ownership of your financial entries, notes, or photos. You give us the limited permission we need to store, sync, back up, and display them (to you, and to the people you share them with), which is what running the service means. This permission ends for your private data when you delete it or your account, subject to the shared-records rule in section 9.

7Split expenses, groups, and guests

When you split an expense, the other participants can see it: the expense, the amounts, who paid, and the running balances. That’s the point of splitting. Only add people (including guests) with details you’re entitled to share, and only record expenses honestly. Settling up in Cashly records that money changed hands; Cashly does not move money: payments happen outside the app, between you.

8Balances are records, not debts we enforce

Cashly’s balances reflect what participants entered. We don’t verify expenses, we don’t mediate disagreements, and a Cashly balance isn’t a judgment about who legally owes whom. If a group can’t agree, that’s between its members.

9Shared financial records

Records you create with other people belong to the group’s shared history. If you delete your account, your identifying details are removed from shared records, but the records themselves (expenses, shares, settlements) remain so other participants’ balances stay correct. The Privacy Policy (sections 16–17) describes this in full.

10Your responsibilities

  • Use Cashly lawfully and honestly.
  • Don’t enter information about other people you have no right to share.
  • Don’t upload unlawful, abusive, or infringing content, including in expense names, notes, group names, and photos.
  • Keep your device and sign-in secure.

11Accuracy of information

Cashly shows what was entered, synced, and computed. Entries can be mistyped; another participant’s split entry can be wrong; synced data can be briefly out of date on one of your devices; currency conversions use third-party exchange rates that are indicative, not bank rates. For anything important (taxes, a dispute, a large settlement), verify against the original source (your bank statement, the actual receipt). This section limits what you should rely on; it doesn’t excuse us from our own negligence or intentional misconduct.

12No financial advice

Cashly organises the numbers you give it. Nothing in Cashly (budgets, categories, summaries, reminders) is personalised investment, tax, accounting, or legal advice, and Cashly is not a bank, wallet, payment service, or financial adviser. For advice, talk to a qualified professional.

13Third-party services

Cashly runs on infrastructure providers (hosting, authentication, crash reporting) described in the Privacy Policy. Signing in with Apple or Google is subject to their terms. We’re not responsible for outages or changes in third-party services, though we’ll always try to handle them gracefully.

14Fair usage and acceptable use

Cashly is built for genuine personal use, and normal use, even heavy, enthusiastic use, is welcome. What isn’t:

  • automated access: bots, scrapers, or scripted abuse of our APIs and rate limits;
  • invitation spam or using Cashly to send unsolicited messages;
  • abusing storage: uploads that aren’t genuine receipts, avatars, or expense attachments;
  • attempting to bypass technical limits or security controls;
  • attacking the service or probing it for vulnerabilities without authorisation;
  • interfering with other users: harassment, impersonation, dishonest manipulation of shared ledgers, or fabricated expenses;
  • filing knowingly false abuse reports;
  • creating accounts to evade a block or restriction;
  • any unlawful activity.

We may throttle, suspend, or terminate accounts engaged in these behaviours (section 18). We won’t use this section to punish ordinary personal-finance use or to withdraw something Cashly explicitly promised you.

15Your content and photos

You’re responsible for what you upload. Receipts and photos should be yours to share. We may remove content that violates these Terms or the law. Report abusive content or behaviour through the in-app report feature or help@cashlyapp.io.

16Intellectual property

Cashly (the apps, the website, the design, the name, and the logo) is ours. We give you a personal, non-transferable licence to use the app for its intended purpose. Don’t copy, resell, or misrepresent Cashly as your own. Your own data isn’t ours (section 6).

17Availability and changes to Cashly

Cashly is provided as-is and evolves. Features may be added, changed, or removed; the service may occasionally be down for maintenance or reasons beyond our control. We’re a small operation and don’t promise uninterrupted availability. But we care about reliability and treat problems seriously.

18Suspension and termination

We may suspend or terminate an account that violates these Terms, threatens other users, or abuses the service, proportionately and with notice where reasonable. You can leave at any time by deleting your account in the app (section 19). Sections that by their nature should survive (6, 9, 12, 20, 21, 22) survive termination.

19Account deletion

You can delete your account any time: Settings → profile → Delete account. Deletion starts immediately and cannot be undone; your account and private data are removed from Cashly’s active systems, and shared records are handled as described in section 9 and the Privacy Policy. Instructions are also at cashlyapp.io/delete-account.

20Disclaimers

To the extent permitted by applicable law, Cashly is provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of uninterrupted operation, error-free calculation, or fitness for a particular purpose. Nothing in these Terms excludes rights that applicable law grants you and doesn’t allow to be excluded.

21Limitation of liability

To the extent permitted by applicable law, we will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, or consequential losses, including lost profits, arising from your use of Cashly. We are also not responsible for losses resulting from disputes between users, inaccurate information entered by you or other participants, or decisions made in reliance on Cashly’s records instead of original financial records or statements.

Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability where doing so would be unlawful, including liability for fraud, wilful misconduct, gross negligence, or any rights or remedies that cannot be excluded under applicable consumer law.

22Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of India, and courts in India have jurisdiction over disputes arising from them, except that if the law of the country where you live grants you mandatory consumer or data-protection rights, or a right to bring proceedings locally, nothing in this section takes those away.

23Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms as Cashly evolves. The date at the top always reflects the current version. For material changes, we’ll provide reasonable notice, in the app or by email, and, where required, ask you to accept the updated Terms.
